Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why do you require a deposit?
To secure your reservation and to serve as your security deposit.
2. Are your going to charge my credit card?
I have no intention of charging your credit card. Your credit card information is used to secure your reservation and to act as a security deposit. Your credit card will be charge only if necessary and as a last resort in the event that you should be unable to occupy the apartment or if there is any damage to the apartment and/or it's contents during your stay.
As a practical matter, in the five years that I've been renting my apartments I've NEVER had to charge anyone's credit card for damage to the apartment.
3. What happens if I make a reservation now and then I have to change or cancel my reservation?
Once you have confirmed your reservation via your credit card, you have committed to renting the apartment, and thus it is subsequently withdrawn from the market and other potential guests are turned away. However, should you need to cancel your reservation or are otherwise unable to occupy the apartment, I will attempt to mitigate the situation as provided in our CANCELLATION POLICY.
CANCELLATION POLICY: MORE THAN 30 DAYS NOTICE: You may change or cancel your reservation more than 30 days prior to your check in date without charge. Your cancellation must be made in writing, signed, and FAXED to us at 1-800-497-2181 prior to midnight of the applicable date.
CANCELLATION POLICY: LESS THAN 30 DAYS NOTICE: Should you need to change or cancel your reservation less than 30 days prior to your scheduled check in date, or fail to arrive and occupy the apartment as scheduled, then I will attempt to mitigate the situation as follows:
- If I CAN find a substitute guest for some or all of the dates you have reserved, I will discount their rent from your balance and charge your credit card for the difference, not to exceed $1,000.00 USD.
- If I CAN NOT find a substitute guest or guests, then I will charge your credit card for the amount of your rental not to exceed $1,000.00 USD.

4. What if my departing flight is in the evening and I need a late checkout?
Generally, flights from North America and Europe arrive in Buenos Aires in the morning and depart in the evening. This means that incoming guests usually arrive to occupy the apartment at approximately noon. Therefor, if you are departing on an evening flight, you have three options:
- You can pay for an additional night when you reserve the apartment, thus allowing you time to relax in the apartment before your departure.
- You can leave your luggage with the building's doorman at noon, enjoy the city for the afternoon, and then retrieve your luggage in the evening when you depart for the airport.
- IF the apartment is not rented for the night of your departure, you can pay 1/2 night's rental for a late checkout.
5. What is the telephone number of the apartment?
Local Telephone: 4807-6875 (From the US: 011-54-11-4807-6875)
Vonage Telephone: 1-786-206-6199 (From the US: 1-786-206-6199)
6. Where is the apartment located?
The apartment building is in Recoleta, at the corner of Junin and Vicente Lopez, across the corner from the Recoleta Cemetary.
7. How far is the apartment from the airport?
The apartment is approximately 30-45 minutes from the international airport in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, and approximately 15 minutes from the domestic airport in downtown Buenos Aires.
8. How many bedrooms does the apartment have?
It's a one bedroom loft apartment. A loft apartment is a two story "open design" apartment, which means that there are no walls (except the bathrooms, of course). The first floor includes the living room, dining room and kitchen areas, along with a 1/2 bath. The second floor with the bedroom area and the full bathroom is separated from the first floor by an open railing.
The bedroom area IS NOT separated from the rest of the apartment by a wall, and thus I DO NOT recommend the apartment for two or more guests each of who may require individual privacy.
9. Does the apartment face the street or the rear of the building?
My apartment faces the side of the building and looks out over a park
that is itself actually on the corner of Junin and Vicente Lopez. From the apartment's windows you can see directly across the park and across the intersection to the Recoleta Cemetery. (see photos)
10. How much street noise is heard from within the apartment?
This is a hard question to answer because it's so subjective, so I'll do the best I can.
My apartment is in the middle of the city. All apartments in the middle of any city will experience some street noise. My apartment is not in the front of the building, and thus it does not face the street in front of the building. However, my apartment faces the side of the building, looking out over a park that is itself on a street corner. Nevertheless, my apartment does have double-paned windows, and thus it is quieter than most apartments that I've experienced in Buenos Aires. In 5 years of renting my apartment, no one has ever commented negatively about the street noise.
There is "normal" street traffic on Vicente Lopez on the opposite side of the park. The street noise is not noteworthy in any sense. The apartment has double insulated windows that effectively diminish the street noise to virtually zero, but if you stand next to the windows and listen quietly, you will probably hear the muffled sound of cars on the street across the park.
11. How much traffic is there in the building itself?
The apartment building is a "mixed use" building comprised of residential apartments and professional offices, which is very common in Buenos Aires as there are no zoning restrictions against using a "residential" apartment as an office. The specific floor for my apartment has one of the other residential apartments and an oral surgeon's office across the foyer. However, the oral surgeon's office is a very low traffic office receiving perhaps a dozen or less patients a day. Really, no one has ever made any comment about the traffic to and from the oral surgeon's office as it really is completely non-intrusive.
The rest of the building is compromised of professional offices with relatively minimal traffic. Certainly there are no "high-traffic" or government offices in the building. The building is virtually deserted on nights and weekends.
12. Does the apartment have a hair dryer and an iron?
Yes, the apartment has both a hair dryer and an iron.
13. Is the apartment air conditioned?
Yes, the apartment has a very powerful air conditioner that has the capability to turn the apartment into a meat locker if you set it to low.
14. Does the apartment have any electrical converters and/or plug adaptors?
There is a 220v converter in a kitchen drawer, although it's rarely needed because every laptop and camera power supply I've ever seen is dual voltage. There are also a couple of adaptors and a power strip at the desk that will accept USA style electrical plugs.
